The question finally came.

Is Charlie Weis worried about being on the hot seat heading into the 2009 season?

He says no.

"I'm the head coach at Notre Dame. Welcome to my world," Weis said Tuesday at his pre-Nevada press conference. "That comes with the territory of being head coach at Notre Dame. When you take this job that's part that comes with it."

The Irish open the season Saturday against the Wolf Pack. Notre Dame is 10-15 over the last two seasons.

"Right now we're just trying to beat Nevada," Weis explained. "That's the only thing on our mind."

"I could not care less about any other things but beating Nevada. That's all I want to do. I'm not worried about hot seats, cold seats, anything. I'm just worrying about trying to beat Nevada."

Weis is entering his 5th season as the Irish head coach. Notre Dame was 3-9 in 2007 and 7-6 in 2008.

Countdown to Kickoff gets you started Saturday at 2:30 here on Channel 16 with the Irish and Wolf Pack at 3:30 from Notre Dame Stadium.
