SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers' exhibition finale against the San Francisco 49ers on Friday night will be blacked out on local TV. The game will be shown live here in Reno on KOLO-TV at 7pm.
The game wasn't close to being a sellout more than 72 hours prior to kickoff, with about 7,000 general-admission tickets remaining Tuesday. The Chargers' exhibition opener against Seattle also was blacked out when some 6,000 general-admission tickets remained unsold.
Until that game, the Chargers hadn't had an exhibition blackout since 2006. The team has warned fans that there could be regular-season blackouts. The Chargers haven't had a regular-season game blacked out since 2004.
Jim Steeg, the team's chief operating officer, said no regular-season games are sold out, including the home opener against Baltimore on Sept. 20, and "significant" numbers of tickets remain for all games.
