CINCINNATI (AP) - Hiroki Kuroda has come through a throwing session without any problems, bringing him one step closer to rejoining the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Kuroda threw 35 pitches, most of them from behind a protective screen, during a simulated game Saturday. Dodgers manager Joe Torre didn't see Kuroda flinch or shy away from balls hit his way.
Kuroda was hit on the right side of the head by Rusty Ryal's line drive in a game against Arizona on Aug. 15. He had concussion symptoms and was placed on the disabled list.
The right-hander could begin a minor league rehabilitation assignment as early as next week.
