Rockies' Call Up Eric Young Jr From Colorado Springs

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies have placed center fielder Dexter Fowler on the 15-day disabled list with a deep bone bruise on his right knee and recalled Eric Young Jr. from Triple-A Colorado Springs to play for the same team his father did.

Young, a converted second baseman, was in the starting lineup in center field and batting leadoff Tuesday night as the Rockies opened a series against the NL West-leading Dodgers.

The Rockies also recalled outfielder Matt Murton from Colorado Springs and optioned right-handed pitcher Adam Eaton to their Triple-A club.

Eaton was the winning pitcher in the Rockies' dramatic 14-inning win over San Francisco on Monday night, when Fowler fouled a fastball off his right knee and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez had to bat twice despite being unable to swing because of a hand injury.
