OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Athletics have placed infielder Bobby Crosby on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf.

The move, made before Friday night's game against the Detroit Tigers, is retroactive to Aug. 18.

Crosby, who hurt his calf Monday against the New York Yankees, is hitting .223 with six home runs and 27 RBIs in a reserve role.

First baseman Daric Barton was reinstated from the disabled list to take Crosby's spot.

Barton is hitting .147 with a home run and three RBIs in 17 games.
