CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Drawing a loud cheer from a crowd full of Bills fans, Wilson was honored to be inducted. He then discussed his lifelong passion for football, which led the Detroit-based businessman to found the Bills.

Wilson, 90, was the inaugural member of the American Football League, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary since it was established. As the sole owner of the Bills, Wilson played an influential role in setting the framework of a deal that led to the AFL-NFL merger in 1966.

He also served on numerous influential NFL committees in the 1970s, and played a key role in preventing a potential players' strike in 1977.
