Peavy To Make Rehab Start For ChiSox

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday after throwing off the mound.

Peavy is scheduled to start Thursday for Charlotte and is expected to throw two to three innings. On the disabled list since June 13 with a strained right ankle tendon, Peavy was acquired from the San Diego Padres on July 31.

Peavy thought the session before the White Sox played Cleveland on Saturday went well.

He is hoping to make three rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list, but White Sox general manager Ken Williams won't be surprised if Peavy only needs two starts before his return to the majors.
