BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Red Sox have traded outfielder Mark Kotsay and cash to the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Brian Anderson.
Both teams were in second place in their divisions when they made the deal Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Kotsay hit .257 with one home run and five RBIs in 27 games for Boston this season. The Red Sox designated him for assignment last week.
The 27-year-old Anderson was hitting .238 with two homers and 13 RBIs when the White Sox sent him down to Triple-A last week.
