Giants Recall Bowker From Triple-A Fresno

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The San Francisco Giants have recalled infielder-outfielder John Bowker from Triple-A Fresno and he was in the starting lineup in left field against the San Diego Padres.

Bowker, who played 111 games with the Giants last year, was batting fifth Thursday night.

It was just a matter of time for Bowker to return, considering he was among the leaders in the Pacific Coast League in several categories. He was hitting .347 with 17 home runs.

San Francisco sent rookie starter Ryan Sadowski to Class-A San Jose to keep him on his schedule because the Giants don't need a fifth starter until after the All-Star break. Sadowski (2-1) began his career with 16 scoreless innings before losing to the Marlins on Tuesday.
