The Oakland A's picked up a big bat on Sunday, acquiring outfielder Scott Hairston in a trade with the Padres.
The A's sent minor league pitchers Ryan Webb and Craig Italiano, as well as a player to be named back to San Diego to complete the trade.
Hairston, 29, is batting .299 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI this season.
Webb, 23, will join the Padres in Arizona on Monday. He was 7-1 with a 4.34 ERA in 31 games with the Sacramento River Cats; the A's Triple-A affiliate.
Italiano, 22, was 5-6 with a 5.63 ERA for Class A Stockton. He'll likely remain in Class A with San Diego.
