OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Athletics reinstated infielder Mark Ellis from the disabled list before Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies.

Ellis has been on the DL with a strained left calf since April 29. He hit .162 (6 for 37) with a double and three RBIs on a 10-game rehab assignment to Single-A Stockton and Triple-A Sacramento.

The A's optioned first baseman Daric Barton to Sacramento to clear a spot on the roster. The A's also transferred Josh Outman to the 60-day DL, making room for Ellis on the 40-man roster.

Barton was recalled from Sacramento on June 8 and went 2 for 17 (.118) with two doubles in 12 games with the A's.
