RENO, Nev. --- Jade Corkill, who grew up in Fallon, Nev., put on a heeling clinic at his hometown rodeo in Reno with 2007 world champion header Chad Masters of Tennessee.

The team roping pair stopped the clock in 5.1 seconds in slack and 5.6 in the performance to capture the lead in both the second round and the average by a healthy margin. Masters and Corkill, who won more than a quarter of a million dollars at the George Strait Team Roping Classic in March, sit second and seventh, respectively, in the PRCA world standings.

Bareback rider Dustin Mulrony could barely get his riggin on Rosser Rodeo’s Pocket Rocket due to the bronc’s wild antics in the chute, and then had to wait while he busted out of the gate and lapped the arena before Mulrony could get set again. But it was a wait well worth it, as Mulrony made a picture-perfect ride of 82 points to go to the lead in the second round and the average.

Wrangler NFR tie-down roper Hunter Herrin was the first to put a sub-8-second run on the board in the second round of his event. He was done in a quick 7.8 seconds to move to the lead in the round and sixth in the average. Earlier Saturday, fellow Texan Landon McClaugherty tied his first-round calf in 7.8 to move to the lead in that round and to third in the average.

Longtime Reno Rodeo stock contractor Cotton Rosser retired his great bucking mare Floodwaters tonight in a touching ceremony after she carried saddle bronc rider Justin Arnold to a 78-point ride – the third-highest marked of the night. She’s the mother of Flood Plain, the bronc that carried Bradley Harter to the high score Saturday of 83 points, putting him first in the round.

Cody Wright scored 81 points on the same family’s Bar Hop – a bucking horse born to a registered mare that came to Rossers from Luke Branquinho’s family. Billy Etbauer, who was well on his way to another score in the high 80s, came off Rosser’s Last Call when his right stirrup actually broke off his saddle and fell to the ground.

Oklahoma barrel racer PJ Burger, who placed second in the first round behind Lindsay Sears, is looking to finish the second round in the same fashion aboard 6-year-old Fancy Man Perks. Her 17.17-second run was easily the fastest of the night to put her right behind Sears in both rounds and the current average standings.
