OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Baltimore outfielder Felix Pie is OK after he was hit in the throat by a foul ball.
Pie underwent a CT scan on his throat and it showed no serious damage. He left the Orioles' 9-4 loss to Oakland on Saturday night after hitting a foul ball that bounced up off the dirt and hit him in the throat.
Orioles manager Dave Trembley said Pie was available to play in Sunday's series finale against the Athletics, though he wasn't in the starting lineup.
Pie, who was leading off the third inning Saturday, grabbed his throat in pain after the foul ball, and athletic trainer Richie Bancells rushed out to assist him. After several minutes, Pie stepped back in to hit but struck out swinging two pitches later against Trevor Cahill.
