LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky-bred Blue Lion won the $50,200 feature race at Churchill Downs by 3½ lengths on Thursday.
Ridden by Julien Leparoux and trained by Rusty Arnold, Blue Lion covered the mile on a good track in 1:38.10. The race was reduced to four starters after being moved off the turf and onto the main track due to inclement weather.
Blue Lion, owned by Wayne Lyster III, Brent Rice and Helen Laughery, paid $4.20 and $2.20. Cross Village returned $2.40 to place. There was no show betting.
The victory was worth $30,580 for Blue Lion, a son of Stormy Atlantic, and increased his career earnings to $82,593.
