Stewart Hosts Charity Race

ROSSBERG, Ohio (AP) - Tony Stewart and star drivers are taking a break from the NASCAR circuit to compete in Stewart's charity race at the dirt track he owns in Ohio.

Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman and others are scheduled to participate in the fifth annual Prelude to the Dream on Wednesday at Eldora Speedway.

Stewart won the race last year, grabbing the lead in the first lap and leading the rest of the way in the 30-lap race.

Jeff Gordon will skip the event because of back pain. He plans to rest ahead of this weekend's NASCAR event at Pocono Raceway. Marcos Ambrose will replace him in the field.

Proceeds will be donated to four charities dedicated to severely injured soldiers or families of military personnel who have died.
