SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Juan Uribe has been placed on the bereavement list by the San Francisco Giants so the infielder can be in his native Dominican Republic to visit his ailing grandfather.
Uribe left the team Saturday night and the club recalled infielder Kevin Frandsen from Triple-A Fresno to fill his roster spot. Frandsen was in the lineup at shortstop and batting second for the finale of a four-game series against the New York Mets on Sunday night.
Frandsen has spent parts of two seasons with the Giants but
missed nearly all of 2008 after rupturing his Achilles' tendon and
He batted .291 with three home runs, 17 RBIs, four doubles and 23 runs scored in 34 games for Fresno this season.
