SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Play has resumed at the Valero Texas Open after a drenching rain suspended third-round play for nearly five hours.

Paul Goydos carried a three-stroke lead into Saturday over three-time champion Justin Leonard and four others. Only eight golfers finished the round before nearly 2 inches of rain began soaking La Cantera Golf Club.

Tournament officials hoped the leaders could squeeze in nine holes before suspending play and finishing Sunday before the final round.

Goydos was 12-under 128 and holding the biggest lead of his career. Leonard was 9 under and tied for second with Mathias Gronberg, Ted Purdy, John Mallinger and Scott Sterling.
