DETROIT (AP) - Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge each hit grand slams
and drove in five runs, and the Detroit Tigers routed the Oakland Athletics 14-1 Friday in a rain-interrupted game.
It was just the third time in franchise history that the Tigers had hit two grand slams in the same game, and the first time since Jim Northrup hit a pair on June 24, 1968.
The start of the game was delayed 61 minutes by rain, and light rain fell for two innings before a heavier shower caused a 73-minute delay at the end of the fourth.
Edwin Jackson, who entered the game with the lowest run support in the American League, took full advantage of Detroit's big night to improve to 3-2. He allowed one run on six hits in seven innings without walking a batter.
