One of Major League Baseball’s premier young stars, Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Stephen Drew, will make a rehabilitation assignment with the Triple-A Reno Aces. Drew’s assignment begins Sunday, May 9 at Aces Ballpark.
Drew was placed on Arizona’s Disabled List on April 26, retroactive to April 25, with a strained left hamstring.
As part of a Major League rehabilitation assignment, Drew will be in uniform on Sunday afternoon when the Reno Aces take on the Fresno Grizzlies at 1:05 p.m. at Aces Ballpark.
Before being sidelined with the injury, Drew was batting .205 with a home run and 5 RBI over 13 games. Last season, he set career-highs in batting average (.291), runs (91), hits (178), doubles (44), triples (11), home runs (21) and RBI (67).
On Sunday, the Aces will celebrate Mother’s Day with a special Breast Cancer Benefit. Players, including Drew, will don pink jerseys, which will be autographed and sold in a silent auction during the game. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
