OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Infielder Adam Kennedy has been added to the Oakland Athletics' roster one day after being acquired him from Tampa Bay.
Kennedy, the MVP of the 2002 ALCS with the Angels, was in the No. 8 spot in Oakland's lineup on Saturday, batting eighth against Toronto.
The A's also recalled right-hander Jeff Gray from their Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento. Oakland optioned infielder Gregorio Petit to Sacramento and designated outfielder Ben Copeland for assignment to make room.
Kennedy, a 10-year major league veteran, was assigned to Sacramento on Friday. He had been playing for the Triple-A affiliate of the Rays, who traded him for a player to be named.
Gray is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in nine relief appearances with Sacramento.
