The American Cancer Society will hold the second annual Suits N Sneakers Ball at the Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa May 9, 2009. The event will raise money to help more than 10 million people living with Cancer today.
Suits N Sneakers was inspired by Coaches vs. Cancer, a weekend where basketball coaches around the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to remind audiences of the many ways to reduce the risk of cancer. The Reno community hopes to bring the energy of this weekend to the Suits N Sneakers Ball.
The Ball’s list of attendees has quickly become a who’s who of local and regional athletic stars and coaches as well of generous members of the Reno community.
Coaches David Carter, Doug Novsek, and Keith Brown will accompany former University of Nevada players Nick Fazekas, Ramon Sessions, Kyle Shiloh, Garry Hill-Thomas, JaVale McGee, and Todd Okeson to the Ball.
David Carter is the 2009 Honorary Chairman. Carter has previously been involved in the event and is excited to make the Ball a success.
The Suits N Sneakers Ball is an elegant black-tie event that is made sporty and fun when paired with tennis shoes. The night will begin with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction. Participants will then enjoy dinner, a live auction, dancing, contests and of course basketball.
“It is likely that most of our lives have been touched be cancer,” said Patti Davidson, Suites N Sneakers Event Chair. “Suits N Sneakers is a wonderful opportunity for us to do our part to win this war.”
The local sponsors that are going above and beyond to do their part include Heritage Bank, IGT, Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa, Juniper Hill Furniture and Design Center, Reno Cyber Knife, and Chocolate Bar. The event is sure to be a night to remember.
