A's Recall Two Pitchers from AAA Sacramento

The Oakland Athletics recalled right-hander Sean Gallagher and left-hander Jerry Blevins from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday to bolster a pitching staff worn out by a 15-inning game.

Gallagher and Blevins were expected to be available when Oakland began a nine-game homestand against the Angels. The A's used five pitchers in Sunday's 8-7 loss at Seattle that lasted 5 hours, 5 minutes.

Both Gallagher and Blevins were on the A's opening day roster before their stints in the minors.

The A's also optioned left-hander Gio Gonzalez and utilityman Eric Patterson to Sacramento. Gonzalez pitched five innings in Sunday's loss, throwing 108 pitches but giving up a tying three-run rally in the 13th.
