Spanish rider Jose Antonio Redondo has been suspended by cycling's governing body for testing positive for testosterone.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) says Friday that Redondo gave an out-of-competition urine sample with traces of testosterone on March 13.
The federation says the Spaniard was told on April 9 that he was provisionally banned while the doping case was investigated.
The Spanish Cycling Federation will investigate whether Redondo has committed an anti-doping violation.
The UCI says the rider has requested a provisional hearing into his suspension. Redondo has the right to request and attend the analysis of his backup sample.
