The University of Nevada track and field team saw a number of personal bests on the final day of the Brutus Hamilton Invitational Saturday hosted by Cal at Edwards Stadium/Goldman Field in Berkeley, Calif.
Analisa Serrano set a PR in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.83 which marked the third time this season Serrano has run under 14 seconds and below the regional qualifying time in the 100m hurdles. She also ran a 12.20 in the 100m dash to finish eighth overall.
Kereiona Johnson ran a PR of 14.37 to finish fourth in the 100m hurdles while Gina Deckard ran a PR of 14.43 to finish sixth in the university/open section.
La Tijera Avery finished seventh in the long jump with a PR jump of 5.70m (18-05.50). The mark puts Avery is sole possession of ninth place on Nevada’s all-time list. Aurelia Houston placed sixth overall in the triple jump with a PR jump of 11.96m (39-03.00) which places Houston fourth all-time in the Nevada record book.
“We are continuing to build steam and momentum as we are getting ready to head into the WAC Championships,” head coach Shantel Twiggs said. “I am pleased with our student-athletes and their effort and commitment.”
Tiffany Tandy recorded a PR in the 1500m with a time of 4:44.13 to finish seventh in the race. Throwers Jalessa Jeffery and Brandy Dyer each recorded PRs in the shot put and discus respectively. Jeffery recorded a throw of 12.19m (41-11.50) in the shot put while Dyer recorded a throw of 40.46m (132-09) in the discus.
