NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Saints owner Tom Benson intends to buy a
downtown office tower then lease it back to the state as part of a
deal for him to keep the NFL team in New Orleans.
Louisiana state Sen. John Alario told The Associated Press Thursday that Benson will buy what was formerly known as the
Dominion Tower next to the Superdome and then the state will
relocate its New Orleans-area offices into the building.
The state and Saints currently are in the midst of sensitive
negotiations aimed at extending the club's lease of the Louisiana
Superdome until 2025.
