The Mets have benched Former Wolf Pack star Ryan Church for Wednesday night's game against the San Diego Padres, according to the New York Times.
This comes despite the fact that Church is hitting .423 on the young season.
Gary Sheffield will get his first start for the Mets over Church in right field.
Wednesday's game is just the second in the history of the Mets new Citi Field.
