Kings center Spencer Hawes will miss Sacramento's season finale after straining his troublesome left knee on a scary play against Denver.
Hawes was injured in a collision with Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin in the first quarter of a loss at Denver on Monday night. Hawes' knee swelled after he landed awkwardly, and Martin received a flagrant foul.
An MRI Tuesday revealed only a knee strain, according to a statement released by the team. Hawes underwent microfracture surgery on the knee several years ago, and had further surgery to repair a torn meniscus in the same knee 18 months ago.
Hawes, who won't play Wednesday night at Minnesota, averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in his second NBA season.
