Former Hawai'i Women's Basketball Coach Suing for Wrongful Termination

Recently fired Hawai'i women's basketball coach Jim Bolla is suing for wrongful termination.

Named in the lawsuit filed Monday were the University of Hawai'i's Board of Regents, President David McClain, Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw, athletic director Jim Donovan and assistant athletic director Carl Clapp.

Bolla alleges he was fired in retaliation for complaining about Title IX violations.

The lawsuit claims Bolla complained to Donovan in March 2008 that the women's basketball team did not receive the same resources and benefits that the men's team received.

Bolla, fired five days ago, is seeking reinstatement and monetary relief. The university had no immediate comment.
