Hard Work Pays Off For Major League Umpire

NEW YORK (AP) - Chris Guccione has been promoted to the fulltime major league umpiring staff after spending the past nine seasons filling in for umpires who were on vacation or injured.

The 34-year-old Guccione has 14 seasons of professional experience, spending time in the Pioneer League (Rookie), Midwest and California leagues (Class A), Texas League (Double-A) and Pacific Coast League (Triple-A).

He will be part of Ed Montague's crew with Jerry Layne and Tony Randazzo.
