Even though they didn't win the World Series, the New York Yankees got to go to the White House.
A group of 22 players, coaches and travel personnel were given a private tour Tuesday that lasted about 1½ hours. Among those on the trip were Joba Chamberlain, Xavier Nady, Nick Swisher, Jonathan Albaladejo, Phil Coke, Ramiro Pena, Edwar Ramirez, Cody Ransom and
Jose Veras.
Coaches Kevin Long, Dave Eiland, Mike Harkey, Mick Kelleher and Rob Thomson came along on the tour, which was put together by former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer.
New York had an off day Tuesday following a season-opening 10-5 loss at Baltimore.
