Tony Schumacher raced to his second straight Top Fuel victory and third in a row in Las Vegas, beating Brandon Bernstein in the Nationals final Sunday with a 3.874-second run at 311.77 mph.

"I didn't do a good job of driving. The team won it today," Schumacher said. "I didn't do as good of a job as last weekend and they won it for me.

The five-time defending Top Fuel champion, the winner last week in Houston, moved him into first place in the season standings after five events with 412 points, 20 more than second-place Antron Brown. Bernstein dropped to third with 388 points.

In the Funny Car final at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, points leader Ron Capps beat Matt Hagan for his third victory of the season, finishing in 4.182 at 297.81 mph. Capps has 408 points, with Hagan second at 302 points.

"I think we got a little complacent," Capps said. "We had a target on our backs because we were first in points."

Jeg Coughlin won the Pro Stock division, edging Greg Stanfield with a 6.715-second run at 205.16 mph. Coughlin also beat Stanfield in the Las Vegas final last October.

Coughlin leads the standings with 430 points, 12 ahead of Jason Line.

"We had a hurry up offense all day," Coughlin said. "It was nothing to write home about."
