Spanish swimmer Rafael Munoz has set a new world record in the men's 50-meter butterfly.
Munoz finished in 22.43 seconds at the Spanish championships Sunday to break Roland Schoeman's previous mark of 22.96. The South
African set it at the world championships in Montreal in 2005.
Munoz also set a new European record of 50.58 in the men's 100 fly at the meet, falling just shy of Schoeman's world mark of 50.40.
