Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel says he plans to stay with the Sooners.
Capel and university president David Boren both say that work is underway on a new contract for the coach, who guided Oklahoma to a
30-6 record and the round of eight in the NCAA tournament.
In recent days, Capel has been mentioned as a candidate for coaching vacancies at Georgia, Virginia, Arizona and Memphis, although he has said nothing about his job status until Friday.
Last June, university regents approved a two-year contract extension through July 2014 for Capel and raised his annual guaranteed compensation by $300,000 to $1.05 million.
Boren says Oklahoma intends to provide a reasonable raise for Capel.
