The Seattle Mariners sent Sparks High grad Randy Messenger down to AAA Tacoma after the reliever allowed 15 runs in 13 innings this spring.
Messenger got off to a great start, reporting to camp thirty pounds lighter and immediately throwing himself into the competition for the closer's role. But a poor finish down the stretch sealed his fate.
