Kutztown University has cut its men's soccer and swimming programs to save money.
Kutztown President F. Javier Cevallos says eliminating the teams will save the school $100,000 over the next year.
School officials say the athletic department made the decision Tuesday after hiring a consulting firm to analyze the school's 23 varsity sports on criteria including athletic and academic success, attendance and fundraising.
The decision is effective immediately. School officials say they will honor current scholarships and help athletes who have eligibility remaining continue their careers elsewhere.
Kutztown competes in NCAA Division II in the Pennsylvania State
