Nevada Women's Golf in 6th Place at Anteater Invitational

Senior Melanie De Leon carded a four-over 75 on Monday to lead the University of Nevada women's golf team into sixth at the Anteater Invitational, being held Monday-Wednesday, March 30-April 1 at the par 71, 5,924 Dove Canyon Country Club in Irvine, Calif.

De Leon is tied for ninth to lead the Wolf Pack, while as a team, Nevada carded a 32-over 316 in the first round and is in sixth place. San Francisco leads the 14-team tournament after the first round at 17-over 301. The Dons hold a one-stroke advantage over Long Beach State (302), while Idaho (303), UC Davis (304) and UC Riverside (305) round out the top five.

Junior Pamela Abreu is tied for 19th at seven-over 78, while sophomore Lauren Hernandez is two strokes behind and tied for 27th at nine-over 80. Freshmen Alex Borcherts (83) and Jamie Yam (85) are tied for 41st and 50th, respectively.

Jennifer Bermingham of UC Riverside and Chelsea Stelzmiller of UC Davis are tied for first individually after carding one-over 72s on Monday. The pair holds a one-stroke lead over four players at two-over 73.
