Pack Men's Golf Team Tied for 10th Place

Led by junior Ryan Hallisey, the University of Nevada men's golf team is tied for 10th place after the second round of the 2009 Western Intercollegiate, being held Sunday-Tuesday, March 29-31 at the par 70, 6,511-yard Pasatiempo Golf Course.

Nevada turned in a 30-over 310 on Tuesday and is tied for 10th with UC Santa Barbara with a two-round total of 45-over 605 (295-310). Fresno State continues to lead the 18-team tournament after carding a 31-over 301 in the second round for a two-day total of 19-over 579 (278-301). The Bulldogs hold a four-stroke advantage over Oregon (583), while Colorado (585), Michigan State (587) and Denver (589) round out the top five teams.

Hallisey is tied for 12th to lead the Wolf Pack. After a three-over 73 on Tuesday, he paces the team with two-day total of seven-over 147 (74-73). Sophomore Scott Smith is tied for 27th at 10-over 150 (72-78), while junior Jared Becher stands in a tie for 49th at 13-over 153 (76-77). Junior Taylor Coffman (73-82=155) and senior Matt Rippy (76-82=158) round out the Wolf Pack lineup and are tied for 56th and 70th, respectively.

Oregon State's Diego Velasquez carded a four-under 66 on Monday to take over the individual lead at even-par 140 (74-66). He holds a one-stroke lead over Colorado's Pat Grady (68-73=141).

The Western Intercollegiate concludes on Tuesday with the final round beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
