Chris Gimenez was optioned to AAA Columbus on Saturday. The former Wolf Pack player was one of the Cleveland Indians' final cuts.
The move came as a bit of a suprise. Gimenez enjoyed a terrific spring, batting .357 with two home runs and seven RBI. His versatility was also a plus, playing several positions including catcher.
Gimenez was drafted by Cleveland in the 19th round back in 2004.
He compiled a .327 average (144-for-441) in three years at Nevada, totaling 30 homers and 103 RBI in 146 games.
