A minor league indoor football player in northeastern Pennsylvania is accused of selling marijuana.
Isaac Hilton is a defensive lineman for the
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers, an arenafootball2 team. The
28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday at practice and accused of
possessing 70 bags of marijuana, which police say has a street
value of $1,000.
Hilton asked a district judge in Kingston to release him on his
own recognizance, saying he has a game Friday and that his coach
will vouch for him. The judge instead set bail at $25,000.
Pioneers owner Cosmo DeNicola released a written statement
saying the arrest is very distressing and that the league has
requested that Hilton be suspended.
Hilton was a seventh round draft pick by the New York Giants in
2004. The Long Beach, Calif., native briefly played with the
Giants, Buccaneers and Panthers of the NFL, and the Toronto
Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
