Phil Mickelson has won the CA Championship for his second victory in the last month. He closed with a 3-under 69 on Sunday to outlast Nick Watney in a spirited duel at Doral, and rose to No. 2 in the world ranking behind Tiger Woods.
Mickelson had to be treated at a local hospital Saturday night
for heat exhaustion and a mild case of dehydration, but he had
enough strength to win his first World Golf Championship title.
Watney shot a 70 and was one shot behind.
Mickelson finished at 19-under 269 for his 36th victory, putting
him in a tie for 12th on the PGA Tour's career list.
Woods had another 68 to salvage a tie for ninth in his first
stroke-play event since the U.S. Open.
