On the second and final day of the NCAA Rifle Championships, the University of Nevada finished eighth Saturday at TCU’s Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
West Virginia won the National Championship after shooting an aggregate shot of 4643. Nevada posted a 4586.
After shooting smallbore Friday, the championship moved on to air rifle.
In air rifle team aggregate, Nevada shot a 2303 and finished seventh. West Virginia shot an aggregate of 2353 and Kentucky and Navy each shot an aggregate of 2327 to finish second.
Senior Andrew Hickey, who finished sixth in smallbore on Friday, shot a 583 to finish 16th place. Sophomore Jessica Klatt and freshman Dempster Christenson each shot a 574 to finish 35th place and junior Leah Taboada shot a 572 to finish 37th.
“TCU hosted a great nationals and we look forward to going to nationals next year,” Nevada head coach Fred Harvey said.
