For the second year in a row University of Nevada diver Candice Minette has qualified for the NCAA Championships based on her performance at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships held at Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas the past three days. The NCAA Championships will be held March 19-21, 2009 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Minette, a senior from Glendale, Ariz., took 17th in today’s platform with a score of 364.25. She was in 18th place after her prelimanary round with a score of 178.80 but moved up one spot to 17th after scoring 185.45 in the finals. On Thursday she placed 13th in the 3-meter with a score of 555.40 and was fifth in Friday’s 1-meter scoring 533.05.
Freshman Melyssa Charlton (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and sophomore Heather Ramirez (Mission Viejo, Calif.) placed 19th and 20th in today’s platform. Charlton scored 173.40 and Ramirez 158.30 in the platform.
