Portland Trail Blazers forward Rudy Fernandez was expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon after spending the night because of a hard foul he took against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Fernandez was fouled on a fast break by Trevor Ariza late in the
third quarter of Portland's 111-94 victory on Monday night. He was
taken from the court on a stretcher with his neck in a brace.
Fernandez suffered a bruised chest and a right hip pointer. He
was listed as doubtful for Portland's game against Dallas on
Wednesday night.
Ariza was ejected from the game.
The foul led to a brief skirmish between the teams, and the Blazers were assessed two technical fouls. The NBA was reviewing
the incident.
