Two Wolf Pack Athletes Pick up WAC Weekly Honors

Nevada’s Polly Smith and Constance McAlman have been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 2-8.

Smith, a senior from Reno, Nev. (North Valleys HS) finished first overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 62.12 at the UNLV Classic to open the outdoor season.

McAlman, a junior from Carson City, Nev. (Carson HS) recorded two first-place finishes and two regional qualifying marks over the weekend. She took first in the hammer throw (55.82 m) and also finished first in the discus for her first two regional qualifying marks of the outdoor season. She also set a PR in the discus with a throw of 48.59m.

Other field nominees included: Fresno State’s Kayla Xavier.
