WAC Baseball Players of the Week Announced

San Jose State shortstop Kyle Bellows and Louisiana Tech right-handed pitcher Dylan Moseley have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for Mar. 2-8.

Bellows, a junior from San Jose, Calif. (Santa Teresa HS), hit .818 in helping the Spartans to a three-game sweep over Pacific last week, extending SJSU's record to a perfect 9-0. Bellows went 9-for-11 at the plate with six runs scored, two RBI, a double and a triple. He also walked once and was hit by a pitch. On Friday night, Bellows singled and scored the Spartans' final two runs in a 5-4 win in Pacific's home opener. On Saturday, Bellows' third-inning RBI double tied the game at 2-2. He scored soon after to regain a 3-2 edge for SJSU, who then cruised to the win as Bellows finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. In Sunday's finale, Bellows went 3-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, triple, two runs scored, one RBI, and a single-game career-high two steals as SJSU finished with the 6-3 victory.

Moseley, a senior from Texarkana, Ark. (Arkansas HS), pitched a complete game shutout in a 10-0 victory over Eastern Michigan. He allowed only six hits and one walk, while striking out two. He also forced a pair of double plays. The last time Moseley threw a complete game was April 15, 2007 at Sacramento State. Moseley is now 2-1 on the season with a 2.00 ERA.

The other hitter of the week nominations were Fresno State sophomore shortstop Danny Muno, Hawai'i junior third baseman Vinnie Catricala, Louisiana Tech senior shortstop Nick Grunenwalk, Nevada senior infielder Tyson Jaquez, New Mexico State junior outfielder Nate Shaver and Sacramento State outfielder Tim Wheeler.

The other pitcher of the week nominations were Fresno State sophomore Jake Floethe, Hawai'i senior Jared Alexander, Nevada sophomore Brock Stassi, New Mexico State senior Erik Nyquist, Sacramento State sophomore Brandon Sandoval and San Jose State senior Anthony Vega.
