The Redskins have parted ways with Jason Taylor and his hefty salary after just one season. The standout defensive end turned down Washington's request to add a workout clause to his contract so the team released him. The clause would have required Taylor to take part in 25 days of offseason workouts.
The six-time Pro Bowl pick was acquired from Miami last year for
a pair of draft picks and was due to make $8.5 million this season.
His season in Washington was marred by injuries that cost him
three games and hampered his performance. Taylor is the sacks
leader among active players, but only managed three-and-a-half last
season, his fewest since 1999.
