The NFL's free-agent signing period opened first thing this morning and the Redskins didn't waste any time reaching into their sizable wallet for the second time in less than 24 hours to sign a big-name player.
Washington and former Tennessee defensive tackle Albert
Haynesworth have agreed to a seven-year deal worth approximately
The 27-year-old All-Pro lineman is a 6-foot-6, 320-pound run
stuffer who also has 24 sacks in seven NFL seasons since the Titans
drafted him in the first round out of the University of Tennessee
in 2002. Haynesworth's career-high 8 1/2 sacks last were more than
one-third of Washington's team total of 24.
His deal was announced only hours after the Redskins kept
DeAngelo Hall from becoming a free agent by agreeing to a six-year,
$54 million deal with the veteran cornerback.
