PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Mets manager Jerry Manuel had some encouraging, but not surprising news for former Wolf Pack star Ryan Church, according to the New York Times.
“He said, ‘You’re getting ready to be the right fielder for the New York Mets,’ ” Church said. “I said, ‘I knew that.’ ”
Manuel has dropped a few hints that young prospect Daniel Murphy might steal some time in right, but for now Church appears to be his man.
Last season, Church tied a career-high by hitting .276 in a season plagued by several concussions.
