Lions' QB Orlovsky to Test Free Agency

Dan Orlovsky says he's pretty confident free agency will be better for him than accepting an offer to be a backup quarterback for the Detroit Lions.

Orlovsky said Monday in a telephone interview with the
Associated Press he plans to test the market because he wants to
compete for a job instead of being relegated to reserve status
behind Daunte Culpepper.

The Lions drafted Orlovsky in the fifth round of the 2005 draft
and he played in two games as a rookie. After sitting behind Jon
Kitna for two seasons, he started seven games and played in 10 for
the NFL's first 0-16 team.

Orlovsky completed 56 percent of his passes last year for 1,616
yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.
