The Oakland Athletics are putting the brakes on a plan to build a new stadium in Fremont.
Team officials asked the city Friday to stop the planning
process for a new stadium, saying they want to look at their
options again.
The team has been considering a $1.8 billion stadium and village
next to the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge.
But it has encountered opposition from residents who say a
stadium would create traffic problems and drive down property
values.
